Fylde Amateur Championships
Paul Thornton of St.Annes Old Links Golf Club was the winner of the Fylde Amateur Championships hosted here at Fairhaven Golf Club on Friday, 20th August, 2010. Full details of the event and results can be found on the Fylde Amateur Golf website using the link below.
Lady Captain's Final Competition

Forty eight ladies qualified and played in a two day competition for the Lady Captain's Prize.
Windy and sometimes wet conditions tested the ladies' skills, and the deserving winner was a junior player, Emily Shea who played under par on both days. With scores of 67 and 70 she played exceptionally well, beating Anne Preston, who was the runner up and took the prize donated by the Lady Vice Captain, Mrs Vera Shearer.
The winner of the first day prize was another Junior girl, Francesca Beeby, while Maria Lavery took the second day prize.
The subsidiary competition over one round was won by Val Hyman, with Ruth Cooper as runner up.
An 18 hole putting competition was won By Pat Chamberlain.
Afterwards, the Lady Captain generously hosted tea for 90 ladies, to round off an enjoyable two days.
Lancashire Amateur Championship
The club is delighted to note that two of it's members, Darren Carlisle and Lee Mayers, both made the cut for the final day of the Lancashire Amateur Championship held at Hesketh Golf Club on 4th-7th June. Congratulations to both on their highly creditable finishes from a starting field of 127 golfers.
Fairhaven Trophies
Following some great scoring in windy conditions Rhys Pugh, Vale of Glamorgan GC, won the boys championship with a 3 under par total of 285 following a final round of 71.
The girls championship was won by Emily Taylor after a course record score of 72 in her final round to win by two shots from Brogan Townend, Pleasington GC, who beat Bronte Law, Bramhall GC, on a card playoff.
The boys runner up was Liam Harper, Lydd GC, with a score of 292, which was equalled by Jack McDonald, Kilmarnock Brassie GC, who finished third.
The new course record of 68 created by Jack McDonald in the first round, on the 7015 yard par 72 course, was equalled by Harry Casey, Enfield GC, and James Burnett, Sleaford GC.
A great championship played in great spirit by all the players and Fairhaven look forward to welcoming players to next years championship, which will be held on 29th April to 1st May, 2011.
Jim Hutchinson meets Justin Rose
Jim Hutchinson was recently invited to Wentworth during the PGA championship as a prize winner in the 2009 STRI ecology awards to meet Justin Rose, who is the new ambassador for the STRI ecology environmental initiative.
He was accompanied by a member of the Greens Committee, David Shepherd.
Justin was aware of Fairhaven and recalled a Home Internationals match and Sergio Garcia playing for Spain.
